Help with Lusid's B Box
Start with Help in B Box itself (the ? key). It has short videos on bringing in your music, moving from iTunes, ripping and burning CDs, and printing an insert, plus the full list of keys.
Still stuck? Email us
rhorn@lusidproductions.com. A real person reads every message, and we reply within two business days. It helps to include:
- Your B Box version (shown at the right end of the status bar)
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
- A screenshot if something looks wrong
- For a crash or a failed rip or burn: B Box's log files (
bbox.log, and anycrashfile). Reply to our first answer and we'll tell you where they are on your PC.
What's in the log: what B Box did and when; the folder paths it used, which include your Windows user name; your CD drive's model and serial number; the window size; and, for the phone remote, the last part of your PC's home-network address and, if the remote can't start, your network adapters' names (a VPN's included). In normal use it doesn't list your songs, though it names any file B Box couldn't open. You can open it in Notepad and read it before you send it.
Refunds
Refunds for Microsoft Store purchases go through Microsoft's own refund process.
Common questions
Will B Box change my music files?
No. It only reads them. Fixes you make in Song info live in B Box's own library.
Can I move my iTunes library?
Yes. Help → Move from iTunes shows how, whether iTunes is on this PC or on a Mac (copy the music folder over first).
Is there a Mac version?
No. B Box runs on Windows only.
Why does my burned CD show only track numbers in the car?
B Box doesn't write song names to the disc (CD-Text) yet.
My phone says the remote's connection isn't private.
That's expected the first time. B Box makes its own certificate on your PC, so the phone asks you to trust it once.
Where are the open-source licences?
On the open-source licences page, with the source code we're required to offer.
