Privacy policy for Lusid's B Box
Effective November 4, 2026
Lusid Productions LLC ("we") makes Lusid's B Box ("B Box"). This policy covers the copy of B Box sold through the Microsoft Store, and this website.
The short version
B Box itself sends nothing to us. It has no account, no ads, and no analytics or crash reporting of its own. Your library, playlists, stars and settings stay on your PC. To name your CDs and find album covers, B Box asks the free music services listed below.
What stays on your PC
- Your music files. B Box reads them and never changes, moves or uploads them.
- B Box's library file: songs, playlists, stars, play counts, your Song info fixes, your own covers, CD inserts and settings.
- A log file B Box writes for troubleshooting. It stays on your PC unless you choose to send it to us. The support page says what's in it.
If your music folder is in OneDrive or another synced folder, that service copies it as it does any file. B Box doesn't.
When B Box goes online
Only for these features, and only to these services:
| Service | What it gets | When |
|---|---|---|
| MusicBrainz (MetaBrainz Foundation) | A CD's disc ID and track layout, or the artist, album and song names being looked up | Importing a CD; Library Match |
| Cover Art Archive and the Internet Archive, which stores its pictures | A request for an album's cover picture | Showing or choosing album covers |
| CUETools Database | The CD's track layout | After each whole-CD rip, to check it against other people's rips |
Like any website you visit, each of these services sees your internet (IP) address. B Box's own requests carry its name, version and a way to contact us, as MusicBrainz asks. Cover pictures load the way a web page loads a picture, so those services also see the usual browser details. Their own privacy policies cover what they do with a request.
Two lookups in other copies of B Box, Apple's iTunes Search and AcoustID's identify-by-sound, are not in the Microsoft Store edition.
The phone remote
If you switch it on, B Box listens on your home network so a phone there can control playback. It pairs with a 4-digit code, works only on your home network, and sends no music and no library data off your network.
Buying B Box, and Microsoft's reports
Microsoft handles the purchase through the Microsoft Store. We don't receive your payment details. Microsoft also gives app makers reports such as install counts and, depending on your Windows diagnostic settings, crash and health reports. We use them only to fix problems. Microsoft's privacy statement covers what it collects.
Emailing us
If you email us, we keep the messages and anything you attach, such as a log file, for 12 months after your question is settled, then delete them. We use them only to help you, and never share or sell them.
This website
lusidproductions.com is served by Cloudflare, which sees visitors' IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't track you across sites. It shows us which pages are visited, the referring site, and your browser and country, as totals. The site has no forms, no accounts and no ads. lusidbbox.com just forwards here.
Children
B Box has no accounts and asks no one for personal information, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
